What is the discipline policy at New Way?

New Way Academy maintains high expectations for student conduct and responsibility utilizing Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS). PBIS is an evidence-based three-tiered framework to improve and integrate all of the data, systems, and practices affecting student outcomes every day. It utilizes logical consequences, problem solving strategies and a token economy system fosters strong character and appropriate behavior. Emphasis is placed on rewarding accomplishments and applauding successes. Teachers provide positive attention for appropriate behavior and structure in the classroom to help students stay productive and focused. Discipline is facilitated by preventative structure, clear expectations and appropriate consequences. Specialized plans are developed when general routines and procedures are not effective for individual students.
