Cara Gelbart

Mrs. Cara Gelbart spent her childhood in West Bloomfield, Michigan. She attended Arizona State University, where she received a Bachelor of Science in Speech and Hearing Sciences, as well as a Master’s degree in Communication Disorders. She is a nationally certified Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) through the American Speech-Language and Hearing Association (ASHA).

Previously, Mrs. Gelbart provided therapy in a combination of clinical and home-health visits for children and young adults with severe special needs. She has experience working with a wide range of disabilities and ages, including non-verbal individuals who use high- and low-tech augmentative communication devices. In 2018, Mrs. Gelbart received the Top Doctor Award for Top Speech-Language Pathologist in Mesa, Arizona!

Mrs. Gelbart is passionate about working with school-aged children to improve all aspects of their communication skills. Her goal is to plan fun activities in individual and/or group sessions which target each student’s communicative needs in the areas of receptive, expressive, and pragmatic language. Some of the skills addressed in therapy are: linguistic concepts, problem solving, conversation skills, inferencing, understanding and using non-verbal communication, and narrative language, among many more.

Beyond the speech room, Mrs. Gelbart has taken up an interest in learning about and growing varieties of houseplants. She also loves training her dog, Kermit, and even holds an AKC Trick Dog Title. She has a zeal for world travel, enjoys learning foreign languages, and is an aspiring home cook. In her spare time, Mrs. Gelbart finds any excuse to use her creativity, whether that is drawing, painting, or jewelry-making.
