Mrs. Alexandra Gibney was born in the Midwest but has enjoyed living in Arizona since age five. She knew that she would be an educator from the time she was a little girl! Her dream came true after graduating Summa Cum Laude from ASU in 2012, where Alex earned her Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education and Elementary Education. Go Devils! Her early years of teaching were spent in Scottsdale Unified School District, where she was also a student. After five years as a kindergarten and second grade teacher, Alex had the privilege of staying home to raise her only son and caring for her family when they needed it most. During those four years, she had experience substitute teaching and private tutoring. Her love of education never faded because her greatest joy is helping children learn and achieve their goals! At New Way she is able to spread her joy for teaching by working with Lower School students as a Reading Specialist teaching Fundations. As the Psych Eval Coordinator, she additionally works with New Way’s contracted testing psychologists to set up new student psychoeducational evaluations and current student reevaluations.
After school and on the weekends, Alex is sure to enjoy watching sports with her husband and son, listening to country music with friends, or eating at some of her favorite restaurants. She also loves to travel and attend reformer pilates classes.
