Miss Talya Smalls is a Lower School teacher who has a passion for educating, working with and coaching children. She received her Bachelor’s of Science from Arizona State University. Miss Smalls started off at New Way as a long-term substitute in the Junior High before transitioning into a support role for the Lower School. Not too long after taking on the support role position, Miss Smalls took over as a homeroom and math teacher in the Lower School.
When not in the classroom, you can find Miss Smalls coaching out on the field (cross country and track) or in the gym (basketball). Miss Smalls is an avid hiker and enjoys trying new outdoor activities. Indoor rock climbing has become a new favorite of hers, as well. Even though Miss Smalls has lived in Arizona since she was 12, she was born in North Carolina and is the biggest UNC Tarheels fan!
