New Way Academy’s Medical Assistant works in this school setting to strengthen and facilitate the educational process by improving and protecting the health of the students.
- Implement school health service programs by utilizing established medical processes to analyze, plan, implement, record and evaluate all health care
- Provide health and safety resource materials to staff, students and parents
- Assist other school personnel to establish safe and healthy conditions in the classrooms
- Provide high-quality school medical and health services to students in a confidential manner respecting their right to privacy
- Carry out administrative duties related to the school health program and to the further development of the position of the school medical assistant
- Assist in the assessment and evaluation of current health needs of students
- Maintain and manage immunization records throughout the school year
- Managing hearing and vision screenings
- Act as backup for the front desk - answering phones, greeting vendors, parents and students
- Any other duties as assigned, with priority being given to school health issues
- Minimum of two years working as a medical assistant
- Experience working with children and school programs, preferred
- Strong planner with an emphasis on execution
- Effective communicator, both internally and externally

- Bachelor’s or higher degree from an accredited college or university
- Valid Medical Assistant Certificate or graduate of an accredited program
