School Psychology Intern
New Way Academy is looking for a School Psychology Intern for the upcoming 2017-2018 school year! This is an opportunity for a student to intern in a private, non-profit, K through 12 school for students with learning differences. For the last two years, New Way Academy was voted in the top 10 by Phoenix Business Journal as a best place to work in the small business category. It is an amazing opportunity to learn about special education, and work with both privately placed and district placed students.
An intern would have the opportunity not only to work closely with an onsite school psychologist, but be able to work with speech and language pathologists, occupational therapists, a school counselor, fabulous teachers and a very supportive administrative team. Additionally, New Way provides outstanding professional development throughout the school year for all staff.
The intern would have the opportunity to provide assessments, write reports, sit in on testing conferences with outside psychologists, observe classes, provide social/emotional curriculum in classes, provide counseling, create behavioral interventions, support teachers in writing IEPs, attend and lead meetings. The intern would be able to observe each area before beginning to practice on their own. Additionally, report writing support would be available. Along with direct supervision, this intern would have the opportunity to meet with the supervisor as needed. Their supervisor(s) will provide 2 hours of direct supervision for every 40 hours worked. Interns typically accumulate 1500 hours throughout the school year
