We know that learning doesn’t stop when the bell rings. Because New Way serves families from across the Valley rather than one neighborhood, we place special emphasis on creating opportunities for students to engage, build friendships, and feel part of our community every day. Whether it’s before, during, or after school, there’s a wide range of activities designed to help students explore their interests and connect with others.
Students can start their mornings with our before school Run Club, join a Grub Club at lunch, or participate in one of our many after-school clubs and sports. This fall alone, more than 130 students took part in extracurricular offerings, a reflection of just how active and involved our student body is! Some examples of clubs include Musical Theatre, Strength Training, Physics and Astronomy, Crafting, and many more! Clubs are based on student interest so they are constantly changing and evolving. They are also led by our dedicated staff, so students can continue to build those connections outside of the classroom.
Outside of clubs, our events are another way to build on that engagement. Ask one of our graduating seniors what their favorite memory from New Way is and many would list off their favorite events. Fall Kickoff, Homecoming, Prom, and more define our vibrant campus life.
These events also happen to be student-led initiatives. Students take ownership over planning and hosting experiences that bring our community together in Leadership class. This year, Leadership students have organized a welcoming New Student Ice Cream Social, planned Homecoming spirit days, led monthly spirit assemblies, and coordinated school dances. These opportunities allow students to develop leadership skills while actively shaping the inclusive, spirited culture that makes New Way such a special place to learn and grow.
We are always looking for new ways to keep students engaged and continue developing them into leaders both inside and outside the classroom.
