High School
Individualized Experience With a Whole School Experience
Our standards-aligned high school curriculum is designed to promote intellectual growth, teach problem-solving and logical reasoning skills, and build confidence for life after graduation. All teachers are trained to deliver evidence-based instruction using effective, multisensory techniques, and our program exceeds the graduation requirements set by the US Department of Education.
New Way is committed to the success and happiness of all our students and provides the necessary support and resources to help them achieve their goals. When appropriate, speech, reading, and other therapies are integrated into a student’s day.
Importantly, our curriculum is tailored to students’ individual needs without forgoing the “whole school experience.” We build an enriching, memorable high school experience by offering numerous extracurricular activities such as school dances, social clubs, competitive sports, and community service opportunities. Social interaction and engagement are integral to creating a positive high school experience. Extracurricular activities allow students to develop social skills parallel to their academic growth.
To prepare students for a successful future, New Way offers: a Scholars’ Program, independent study, a college readiness elective and post-secondary education advising, guided career exploration and career assessments, independent living advice, and more. Additionally, each high school student has an annual transition meeting that allows the student, parents, and staff to develop a comprehensive plan for the future.
The High School features spacious outdoor areas, and all students receive a Chromebook with age-appropriate assistive technology tools.

A Day in the Life
Junior high students are assigned to a homeroom class of eight to 12. The school day is divided into morning homeroom, seven academic class periods, and afternoon homeroom. A typical schedule includes math, reading, writing, social studies, health, tech, STEM, and a combination of special classes such as P.E., art, or mindfulness. Depending on individual needs, occupational, reading, speech-language, and other appropriate therapies may be included in the daily schedule at no additional fee.

Throughout the year, students can enjoy:
- Guest speakers
- Elective classes, including digital media, yearbook, and production design
- American Sign Language (ASL) classes
- Interest-based lunchtime and after-school clubs
- Thematic field trips, including an annual musical
- Varsity sports teams that compete in the Canyon Athletic Association
- Student-centered events, including prom, homecoming, spirit assemblies, and community service activities

“We moved from Chicago specifically to allow our children to attend New Way Academy. Our family was struggling with the challenges of raising children with learning differences and we were turning to New Way for help. Admittedly we took a “leap of faith” and this leap was rewarded in countless ways. Not only are our children now thriving academically, socially and emotionally but our entire family dynamic has improved as well. Donating my time and resources to New Way is a very small way to say “thank you” to this wonderful organization and to ensure New Way will continue to transform families for the better into the future.”
