Mrs. Alexandra Gibney was born in the Midwest but has enjoyed living in Arizona since the age of five. She knew that she would be an educator from the time she was a little girl! Her dream came true after graduating Summa Cum Laude from ASU in 2012, where she earned her Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education and Elementary Education. Go Devils!
Her early years of teaching were spent in Scottsdale Unified School District, where she had grown up as a student and where she later met her husband. After five years as a kindergarten and second grade teacher, Mrs. Gibney had the privilege of staying home to raise her only son and care for her family when they needed it most. During those four years, she had experience substitute teaching and private tutoring. Her love of education never faded because her greatest joy is helping children learn and achieve their goals.
Mrs. Gibney began working at New Way in 2021 as both a lower school Fundations teacher and Psych Eval Coordinator. She has fully transitioned into the Support Services Specialist role. The majority of her time is spent recording attendance in order to provide our families with updated attendance totals. She additionally works with New Way’s substitute teachers, managing the scheduling, placement, and support of our subs to ensure classroom coverage and continuity of instruction when regular teachers are absent.
After school and on the weekends, Mrs. Gibney enjoys watching sports with her husband and son, listening to country music with friends, and eating at her favorite restaurants. She also loves to travel and complete word searches.
