Mr. Shawn Clark grew up in Miami, Florida, and earned both his Bachelor’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology and his Master’s degree in Special Education from Florida State University.
Mr. Clark spent over 20 years teaching junior high and high school students at New Way. During that time, he focused on helping students become stronger readers and writers.
After taking a year away from New Way to work as a Special Education Resource Teacher at Arizona School for the Arts, Mr. Clark returned with fresh ideas. He came back as the Elective Coordinator and Digital Media instructor, bringing with him a new vision for how special education can support students in reaching grade-level goals. Since then, he’s helped lead a team that designs elective classes to build real-world skills and spark student creativity.
In his current role, Mr. Clark helps build a well-rounded academic program that’s based on solid research. He believes in using hands-on learning and tailoring instruction to fit how each student learns best. His goal is to make sure every student has the tools they need to succeed—not just in school, but in life after graduation.
When he’s not working, you’ll often find Mr. Clark cheering on New Way’s Bulldog sports teams. Outside of school, he loves following Florida State University sports, discovering new indie rock bands, dreaming of future travel adventures, and going on walks with his wife, Kristen (who teaches junior high), and their very spoiled dog, Reggae.
