Mrs. Brittany Roman has a passion for teaching and education that began in childhood. She always knew that she wanted to become a teacher, but it wasn’t until her first student teaching experiences that she realized just how important reading is for kids. Mrs. Roman attended Point Loma Nazarene University in San Diego, where she graduated in 2007 with her education degree and certification for Elementary Education. After graduating, she moved to the Washington, DC to teach in our nation’s capital. She taught 4th grade and reading for 4 years before obtaining her masters’ degree from Marygrove College in Reading & Literacy. Mrs. Roman was then offered an opportunity that combined her passion for teaching and love of travel. She moved to Rwanda, in the heart of Africa, to train teachers and support local schools. She lived in Rwanda for 2 years before settling in Phoenix with her husband, Jesse, and daughter, Isabelle.
Mrs. Roman feels blessed to have found the New Way family! The community based living that she grew to love and appreciate while in Rwanda is alive and present at New Way. When not at school, she can be found spending time with her family, getting outdoors to bike or hike in Flagstaff, or curled up with a mug of apple cider while reading a good book. She still has a passion for traveling internationally, but lately has been making as many trips as possible to visit her family in San Luis Obispo, CA, where she grew up.
