Ms. Katie Jillette moved to Arizona from Massachusetts to participate in the Teach for America program following her graduation from Framingham State University. Katie then graduated from Arizona State University with a Master’s degree in Special Education. She taught 6th-8th grade special education for three years in the Isaac School District before working as a math interventionist and data coach at the school level.
Katie transitioned to New Way after hearing amazing things about the school from local community members. During her time at New Way, Katie has developed and grown the high school math program, created the school’s first ever public speaking class and led the math department. She has also taken on the role of MAP coordinator in which she educated students, staff and parents about the purpose and value of the MAP assessment. As Assistant Head of the High School Katie focuses on addressing the unique needs of the high school while continuing to teach pre-calculus.
When not at New Way Katie enjoys spending her time exploring new places with her family, scouring local thrift stores for the best finds and savoring her favorite food (dessert!)
