Alyssa Johnson has been very active in the Arizona dance scene since she was a little girl, participating in many different local companies and crews. She was born and raised in Scottsdale, Arizona and grew up dancing at a studio in Chandler, Arizona training in many different styles of dance such as jazz, ballet, hip-hop, tap, contemporary and lyrical. Following high school, Alyssa began teaching at the same studio she grew up at where she learned her true love was teaching kids, and currently directs two different competition hip-hop teams there as well. After earning her Dance and Communications degree from Arizona State University, and getting certified in “Rhythm Works,” a teaching program geared toward children ages three and up who suffer from autism, down syndrome, sensory integration disorders, ADHD and other developmental challenges, Alyssa began teaching as a Dance Instructor at New Way Academy. Her number one priority is to help her students learn in ways that work best for them which absolutely aligns perfectly with the schools values. Teaching and dance are her two biggest passions and combined she feels those are the two best ingredients for a dance teacher to possess. Alyssa has loved every second of her time at New Way, and has enjoyed experiencing the impact the school is making in not only her students, but her own life.
