A New Way of Learning

At New Way, we concentrate on each student’s individual needs, leading to improved academic results while fostering the overall development of the child.

“He has learned to self-advocate and no longer sees his learning differences as learning disabilities.”

Specialized Techniques

New Way employs a unique strategy for educating students with learning differences. Our teachers utilize multisensory teaching methods, evidence-based curricula, and specialized interventions to help students make academic progress. We provide on-site speech, language, and occupational therapy, along with physical education, art, social skills training, and numerous after-school activities.

A Calming Environment

Visitors often comment on how calm, happy, and engaged New Way students are during classes. Students participate actively in lessons that engage multiple senses. Every aspect of the classroom, from wall colors to furniture arrangement, is thoughtfully designed to enhance learning. We minimize visual distractions and optimize acoustics using assistive technology and sound-blocking materials. Students are assigned to homerooms based on their age, social maturity, and academic learning style. They collaborate in groups of two to twelve, following a class schedule tailored to meet their individual goals. Each classroom is equipped with state-of-the-art technology, including Chromebook laptops for each student.

Grade Level Curriculum

Students at New Way follow a grade-level curriculum that adheres to Arizona State Standards, ensuring they excel academically. The distinction lies in our focus on each student’s individual learning style. We develop tailored support based on comprehensive assessments and classroom performance, enabling us to address specific challenges with precision. Our goal is to achieve success in the classroom by addressing individual learning needs and building on students’ strengths.

High Standards

New Way is committed to supporting our students in acquiring lifelong skills that will contribute to their success both in and out of the classroom. To enhance our students’ academic achievement, we also prioritize their social and emotional development. We implement a school-wide Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) system to promote social skills among all students. PBIS is research-based and emphasizes positive strategies to shape behavior. We proactively address unexpected behaviors in our students. All staff members have undergone training in PBIS and continue to receive professional development throughout the school year. PBIS complements various programs on campus, including Character Strong. Our school-wide expectations are centered around three main principles: Be Respectful, Be Responsible, and Do Your Best.
